About Me...
Hi there! I’m a counseling student intern (projected graduation date May, 2025) working
under license of Clinical Director & Supervisor Deana Porter, MFT at LCC Counseling
Center in Southern California. I’m passionate about helping individuals and
communities grow through compassionate, personalized care. Grounded in Christian-
based counseling, I combine therapeutic expertise with creative skills to foster trauma-
informed environments for healing and growth.
Specializing in psychodynamic therapy and multicultural interventions, I empower
individuals to overcome challenges and build resilience. I offer tailored support to
diverse backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued within a trauma-
informed, ethical framework.
With experience in treatment planning, assessments, and group facilitation, I integrate
the Townsend Model, focusing on faith and spirituality to nurture collective healing. My
background in graphic design, website development, and social media allows me to
connect with a broader audience and share uplifting messages.
Grounding and mindfulness techniques are central to my practice, encouraging peace,
self-reflection, and intrinsic motivation. By utilizing motivational interviewing and a
deep understanding of individual needs, I create a collaborative, empowering space for
meaningful and lasting change.

Mindfulness: Playlist
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present, helping you connect with yourself and the world around you. At Counseling with Merisa,
we use mindfulness techniques like meditation and breathing exercises to reduce stress, manage anxiety, and foster inner calm. These
practices promote emotional healing, clarity, and personal growth, allowing you to embrace your thoughts and feelings with compassion.
